Key Stages

What are Key Stages?
The national curriculum is organised into blocks of years called ‘key stages’ (KS). At the end of each key stage, your child’s teacher will formally assess their performance to measure your child’s progress.
The school must report your child’s progress to you. This can happen in different ways, eg an end-of-term report or meetings at the school.
Farnham Tuition will have a positive impact on the success of your child in what is now a very competitive environment. The difference between success and failure is usually only a few marks

Children will start sitting the new national primary curriculum tests in 2016.

Compulsory national curriculum subjects at primary school are:
English, maths, science, design and technology, history, geography, art and design, music, physical education (PE), including swimming, computing, ancient and modern foreign languages. (at key stage 2)
Schools must provide religious education (RE) but parents can ask for their children to be taken out of the whole lesson or part of it.
Key stage 1
Children’s attitude to learning is cemented in the formative years of primary school which is why making sure they feel secure and confident in the classroom is so important.
We can improve core skills in English and support preparation for entrance exams or just help with settling your child into school. Whatever the need Farnham Tuition can devise a programme that works.
They know how to make learning fun and engaging in a way that connects with your child and develops knowledge in a structured way. Our private tutors build achievements that fuel your child’s self-belief and confidence – creating a virtuous circle that encourages children to learn and develop.

Key stage 2
The number of subjects increases! This means that children have to be good at reading and writing to be able to access the learning. Literacy is the key that unlocks the learning.
Farnham Tuition is able to support learning in English at key stage 2 curriculum. They can also help with preparation for SATs and school entrance exams in year 6.
Farnham Tuition is has a wide experience of working with primary age children and can help improve your child's performance in English. Contact us for a confidential discussion about how we can help.
